FAQ

Is it free?

Yes. It is open source under GPL-3.0. If you want to support it, there is Ko-fi.

How is it different from UmaViewer?

UmaViewer is a broad asset viewer. UmaStudio is made for pictures and videos: props in her hands, your own pictures, transparent video and a searchable pose library. The comparison on the home page goes through it.

Can I use the models in Blender?

Yes. Export for Blender (.glb) on the Render tab saves her with skeleton, textures and props, optionally with the motion baked in. Import it with File, Import, glTF 2.0.

Does the game need to be running?

No. UmaStudio reads the game's files on disk. The game only has to be installed and started once, so its data is downloaded.

Does it change anything in the game?

No. It never writes to the game folder, never touches the running game and never talks to the game's servers. It reads files and converts them for itself.

Which version of the game works?

The Steam version on Windows. UmaStudio finds it through your Steam library by itself.

Mac or Linux?

Not right now. The physics and the file reading use the game's own Windows libraries.

It says "Game files not found".

Start the game once through Steam and let it download its data. UmaStudio keeps checking and continues on its own.

Windows says it protected my PC.

The exe is not signed. Click More info, then Run anyway. The code is on GitHub if you want to check it or build it yourself.

Video export does nothing.

It needs ffmpeg. Put ffmpeg.exe next to UmaStudio.exe, or install ffmpeg so it is on PATH. PNGs work without it.

A character looks wrong after a game update.

Close UmaStudio and delete Pictures\UmaStudio\viewer-cache. Characters are converted again the next time you open them.

Where are my pictures and videos?

In Pictures\UmaStudio\renders. Open saved files on the Render tab opens the folder.

Can I post what I make?

The characters belong to Cygames, so follow their fan content guidelines when you share renders.

How do I report a bug?

On Discord, or as an issue on GitHub. The log in %LOCALAPPDATA%\UmaStudio\viewer.log helps.
